Books I Love:

I read all the time. Or, I probably should say, I listen all the time. Audible is my favorite discovery of the last five years. I read/listen to all types of books. I love the Sci-Fi genre I write in, but I also love fantasy, both high and urban, as well as some historical fiction. I also read young adult fiction and fantasy and even middle grade. I’m hoping to find another series that grips me like Harry Potter did. Occasionally, I even read the odd non-fiction books – some are self-help and others are on topics I find interesting or may be necessary research for a writing project.

If you want to see all the books I’ve read in the last year, check me out on Goodreads. Here, I will only post the books and series I really loved, books I can see myself reading again, and can’t wait to recommend to someone else so I have someone to talk to about it.

Yes, Aaron is a friend of mine, but putting my bias aside, this series is amazing – so far. I’ve just begun the second book. This one, the first in the series, I listened to through Audible. The narrator was so outstanding, I put off buying the second, hoping Machine Gun Girls would come out on audible. I couldn’t wait any longer and bought the book.
This is the third book in Marissa Meyer’s Renegades trilogy, and all three books were awesome! I first fell in love with Marissa Meyer when I read the Lunar Chronicles and she continues to woo me with Renegades. It’s the story of a villain posing as a super hero and a super hero moonlighting as a vigilante. Their alter egos hate each other, but their true selves can’t get enough of each other. It’s a new twist on super heroes and villains.
Also the third book in a trilogy, The Toll wraps up Neal Shusterman’s Arch of a Scythe. It took me a minute to come to grips with what a scythe was in theses books. In a world where humanity has conquered death, the Scythes are tasked with population control by indiscriminately culling the human population. They are dealers of death. They are also supposed to be above petty human wants and desires. We know how well that works. If you can stomach the death (which isn’t gruesome) I highly recommend this trilogy
This year brought about the end to quite a few trilogies I’ve been reading. This is the third one on the list. I actually went back and reread the first two books because so much happens in them I needed to refresh my memory. Tea is a bone witch, capable of resurrecting the dead, and a member of the powerful and influential asha. Hers is a struggle against the dark magic to save the ones she loves.
This is a stand alone book in Charlie N. Holmberg’s Paper Magician universe. I love this author, all the books in this series are super fun.
Didn’t know what to expect with this one, as she is a new author, but I loved this book! I can’t wait for more from her.
